“The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives.”
- Robert Maynard Hutchins
Our school philosophy - Future-Ready, Life-Long Learners. At Punggol Green Primary school, we believe strongly that we should never stop learning, that the children who go through our hands will learn how to learn and change. As the world economy will get more complex, our children must be equipped and educated with the right skills that will let them thrive in the economy of the future. We want to ensure that they are inculcated with knowledge and motivation to be lifelong and adaptable learners. They will have 21st century skills such as inventive and critical thinking, information and communication know-how, civil literacy and cross-cultural skills. They have to cope with the fast pace of globalisation, technological change and innovation. As our Minister for Education, Mr Heng Swee Keat, mentioned, “Every child must be trained for the future.” Our future lies in the hands of the children. Our children at Punggol Green Primary will have the ‘heartware’ and the ‘hardware’ to face the challenges that come their way.
I always believe that education of a child is like a jigsaw puzzle that requires the school and the parents to work together to form a beautiful picture. Without the effort of one or the other, the picture will be incomplete. The child will always be at the core of what we do and by working in positive synergy, we can do more for them. We can ensure that our children are future-ready, anchored in the right attitudes, values and skills, equipped with ‘timely’ and ‘timeless’ knowledge for their success as a useful and contributing member of our society.
